This section deals with how to handle Meta account restrictions that can block WhatsApp Business onboarding. It explains why Meta flags certain profiles, how these restrictions affect linked business assets, and the steps to successfully resolve the issue by creating a clean Meta environment.
When do you get these restrictions?
- You get these restrictions when Meta detects issues with the Facebook profile used during onboarding—such as suspicious activity, policy violations, incomplete verification, or account integrity problems.
- Common reasons for Account integrity problems:
1. Using fake or incomplete Facebook profile information.
2. Logging into Facebook profile from multiple locations or devices within a short time.
3. Frequently creating and deleting business pages or WhatsApp Business Accounts.
How it affects WhatsApp integration?
- When your Meta Facebook account or WhatsApp Business Account is under restriction, you cannot complete the phone number verification process (It will block new phone numbers also). As shown in the images, Meta blocks the setup and displays a message saying that the WhatsApp Business Account is currently restricted, preventing you from proceeding further.
Resolution:
- Create a fresh Meta setup - Create a new Facebook account with a new email ID and create a business page under that new profile.
- Re-onboarded the same phone number - Restart the WhatsApp onboarding using the newly created Facebook account, and adding the same number is also fine to complete the integration.
Note: Make sure Business verification is also completed during onboarding.
