How to Use AI Attendance

Zylu’s AI Attendance makes it easy to manage staff check-ins and check-outs securely using facial recognition and geolocation. This feature is strictly available on mobile devices and requires minimal manual intervention once setup is complete.

What Can You Do in the Attendance Section

To use this feature, go to the Attendance section in the Zylu mobile app.

You will find the following options:

1. Register

Used by staff to mark attendance using face recognition.

2. Enroll Staff

Used to register employee faces for AI attendance.

3. Dashboard

Displays a real-time view of the day’s check-ins and check-outs.

4. Add Attendance Manually

Allows the owner or permitted staff to manually add attendance. This is available on both mobile and web but is restricted by permissions.


Step 1: Enroll Staff for AI Attendance

Each staff member must be enrolled before using AI Attendance.

How to Enroll Staff

  1. Go to the Attendance screen on the mobile app.

  2. Tap Enroll Staff.

  3. You will see a list of employees already added to the system.

  4. Select the employee you want to enroll.

  5. Tap Enroll My Face.

  6. Capture five facial angles:

    • Front

    • Left

    • Right

    • Up

    • Down

Zylu does not store facial photos. Instead, we generate a secure facial token that cannot be converted back into an image. This ensures complete privacy and data security.



Step 2: Mark Attendance Using AI

Once staff are enrolled, they can mark their attendance using face recognition.

How to Register Attendance

  1. Open the Attendance screen on the mobile app.

  2. Tap Register.

  3. Scan your face.

If successful, your check-in or check-out will be recorded automatically.

Location Requirements

  • Ensure that Location Services are turned on.

  • Refresh your GPS if needed.

  • If the employee is too far from the workplace, the system will show a message:

    "You are far from the workplace. Attendance can’t be marked."

Zylu uses geolocation to verify the staff's presence at the workplace during check-in and check-out.

Step 3: Add Attendance Manually

In case AI attendance fails or someone forgets to check in, the attendance can be added manually.

Who Can Add Attendance Manually

This feature is available only to users with manual attendance permission. It can be accessed via both mobile and web.

How to Add Attendance Manually

  1. Tap the plus (+) button in the Attendance section.

  2. Select the staff member.

  3. Choose the date.

  4. Enter check-in and check-out times.

    • Check-out time can be added later if needed.

  5. If the staff was absent, toggle the Is Absent switch.

  6. Optionally, add a note explaining the absence or reason for manual entry.


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I use AI Attendance on desktop?

No. AI Attendance is available only on the Zylu mobile app.

Is internet required for AI Attendance?

Yes. An active internet connection is required to process the face scan and record location data.

What happens if the face is not detected?

Ensure the following:

  • Good lighting conditions

  • Proper camera alignment

  • Full face is visible

  • You captured all five required angles during enrollment

You can also try re-enrolling the face if issues continue.

Can staff use another staff member's phone to mark attendance?

Yes. As long as the staff is enrolled, they can mark attendance from any mobile device using their face.

What if my phone camera is not working?

You can use another device for scanning, or the owner can add attendance manually if permitted.

Why is it asking for location access?

To prevent proxy attendance. Zylu uses geolocation to verify the staff's physical presence near the workplace.

Can attendance be marked while working remotely?

No. Attendance is restricted to predefined workplace geolocations.

Is it possible to re-enroll a staff member's face?

Yes. If a staff member is facing issues with face recognition or needs to re-enroll for any reason, you can do it easily.

How to Re-Enroll a Staff Member:

  1. Go to Manage > Staff Management.

  2. Select the employee you want to re-enroll.

  3. Click on the Enrollment icon.

  4. Delete the existing enrollment.

  5. Tap Enroll My Face to capture the five required views again.

This process helps ensure accurate face recognition and attendance tracking.

Are photos stored anywhere?

No. Zylu does not store images. Instead, it converts them into secure tokens that are encrypted and cannot be reversed into images.

Can I view past attendance logs?

Yes. You can view detailed attendance history from the Attendance Dashboard in the app.

Can check-out be done without checking in?

No. A staff member must check in before checking out on the same day.

What if the location mismatch error appears often?

Ensure:

  • Your device GPS is accurate and permissions are allowed

  • You are within the physical workplace range

  • Try refreshing your location manually from the settings
