AI Attendance Getting Started Guide

Overview

AI Attendance enables employees to securely mark their attendance using Face Recognition. Depending on your organization's requirements, additional verification methods such as GPS Location, Store Wi-Fi, Live Face Check, and Personal Device Support can also be configured.

This guide will help you complete the initial setup and start using AI Attendance successfully.

Before You Begin

Before configuring AI Attendance, ensure the following:

  • An active ZAP Credits balance is available. AI Attendance requires ZAP Credits to perform Face Recognition and attendance verification. If your ZAP Credits balance is exhausted, employees will not be able to mark attendance until credits are recharged.
  • You have Administrator or Manager access.
  • All employee devices have the latest version of the Zylu app installed.
  • Employees are available for Face Enrollment.
  • A stable internet connection is available.
  • If using Wi-Fi verification, ensure the organization's Wi-Fi network is active.

Step 1: Update the Zylu App

Before setting up AI Attendance, update the application to the latest version to receive the newest AI improvements, performance enhancements, and bug fixes.

Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Zylu: Salon Software & POS.
  3. Tap Update if available.

iPhone

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for Zylu: Salon Software & POS.
  3. Tap Update if available.

Step 2: Open AI Attendance

Navigate to:

Menu → Attendance

This section contains all attendance settings, employee enrollment, and configuration options.

Step 3: Enroll Employees

Navigate to:

Attendance → Manage Staff Enrollment

For each employee:

  1. Select the employee.
  2. Click Enroll.
  3. Ask the employee to:
    • Look directly at the camera.
    • Ensure good lighting.
    • Remove any face-covering accessories.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions until enrollment is complete.

Once enrollment is successful, the employee status will display Enrolled.

Important: Employees must complete Face Enrollment before they can mark attendance.

Step 4: Configure Attendance Verification

Navigate to:

Attendance → Settings

Choose the attendance verification method that best fits your organization.

Store Wi-Fi

Employees must be connected to the configured Wi-Fi network before attendance can be marked.

Recommended for: Organizations where employees work from a fixed location.

GPS Location

Employees can mark attendance only when they are within the configured location.

Recommended for: Organizations that require location verification.

The system first verifies GPS. If GPS is unavailable or has a weak signal, it automatically checks the configured Wi-Fi network.

This configuration offers the best balance of security and reliability.

Step 5: Configure Personal Device Access

Navigate to:

Attendance Settings → Allow Personal Devices

Enabled

Employees can mark attendance using their own registered mobile devices.

Disabled

Attendance can only be marked using approved organization devices such as a manager's device, administrator's device, or a dedicated attendance device.

Step 6: Configure Live Face Check (Optional)

Navigate to:

Attendance Settings → Require Live Face Check

When enabled, employees may be asked to blink or smile during verification.

This additional security measure helps prevent attendance from being marked using photographs or other spoofing attempts.

Step 7: Save Configuration

After completing all settings, click Save Changes.

Configuration changes will only take effect after they have been saved.

Step 8: Test Attendance

Before rolling out AI Attendance to all employees:

  1. Ask each employee to mark Check-In.
  2. Verify that attendance is recorded successfully.
  3. Ask them to mark Check-Out.
  4. Confirm both records appear in the Attendance Report.

Daily Attendance Process

Employees simply need to:

  1. Open the Zylu app.
  2. Navigate to Attendance.
  3. Tap Check-In or Check-Out.
  4. Complete Face Recognition.
  5. Wait for the confirmation message.

Best Practices

  • Enroll every employee before their first attendance.
  • Keep the Zylu app updated.
  • Ensure Camera and Location permissions are enabled.
  • Use a stable internet connection.
  • Re-enroll employees if their facial appearance changes significantly.
  • Test attendance after modifying any attendance settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't an employee mark attendance?

Verify the following:

  • Face Enrollment has been completed.
  • Camera and Location permissions are enabled.
  • The latest version of the Zylu app is installed.
  • The employee is connected to the configured Wi-Fi (if applicable).
  • The employee is within the configured GPS location (if applicable).

Can employees use their own phones?

Yes. Enable Allow Personal Devices in Attendance Settings to allow employees to mark attendance using their registered devices.

What happens if GPS is unavailable?

If Use Wi-Fi if GPS is Unavailable is enabled and the employee is connected to the configured Wi-Fi network, attendance will still be verified successfully.

Is Live Face Check mandatory?

No. Live Face Check is optional and can be enabled to provide an additional layer of security against fraudulent attendance.

Do I need ZAP Credits to use AI Attendance?

Yes. AI Attendance requires ZAP Credits for Face Recognition and attendance verification. Ensure your organization maintains a sufficient credit balance to avoid interruptions. If your credits are exhausted, employees will not be able to mark attendance until the balance is recharged.
